While numerous daytime TV shows suggest that Britons increasingly see buying property only as an investment, new research suggests that home remains where the heart is in the UK.
A recent study from mortgages and secured loans broker www.OceanFinance.co.uk has shown that nearly two-thirds of us haven,t moved house in over 15 years, and one in ten have stayed in the same place for over three decades.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the findings indicate that older people are far less likely to have moved house in the last 15 years than the youngest people questioned. More than half (54%) of those aged 25 and under had already lived in three homes or more.
Meanwhile, it transpires that those living in the East and South-East of England are the most likely to move frequently -30% of those in the South-East and 27% of respondents from the East of the UK claimed to have lived in ten or more houses throughout their lives. By contrast, 70% of respondents from the Midlands hadn’t moved house at all during the past 15 years.
Ian Williams from Ocean Finance summed up the reports findings, saying: “Whilst moving home is common amongst the young, what is remarkable is how people seem to stay put once they’ve found a place that they like. One in 10 of us will stay in the same house for more than31 years. There is also evidence of young people being forced to live at home or boomeranging back home after studying away with 16% of people under 34 saying they have lived in just two places.”
