What impact could your home have on car insurance premiums?

We all know that the area where you live can have a significant impact on your home insurance premiums, with home owners being more likely to make claims in certain areas due to higher crime rates for instance. But did you know that it can also have a significant impact on your car insurance premiums as well?

MoneySupermarket has analysed over 13 million car insurance quotes which have been run through its website over the past 12 months and found that Ilford in London is the area with the highest number of car insurance claims for car related crimes. It turns out that theft is actually the crime which is most commonly reported by motorists, making up 50% of the total number of claims.

The London area performed particularly badly in the survey, with Romford, West London, Bromley and East London completing the top five areas for the highest car crime rates.

Perth in Scotland actually turned out to be the area with the lowest number of claims for car crimes which will likely result in people in this area being forced to pay less for their car insurance premiums. Shrewsbury was next up, following by Carlisle, Harrogate and Exeter.
